Our resent expedition on the North Island of New Zealand floating the headwater of the famous Rangitikei River the Leatherman C-304 soon become the knife of choice for Water Strider Kick Boats. We floated through some wild white water (see photo gallery at www.waterstrider.com) and found out with the combination of tools the Leatherman C-304 knife provided, I was able to repair the damage that happened on one of the many white water class rapids. The hydraulics of the river slammed the Water Strider into huge boulders several times and the extreme pressure of hitting the large boulders actually popped the head off the pop rivet that holds the oar blade in place. This kind of damage will allow the oar blade to turn sideways and give you no pressure when trying to steer yourself through a white water situation. I was able to drive a wood stick into the hole and remove one of the two screws that hold the oar lock pins in place and using the Phillips screwdriver attachment from the Leatherman C-304 knife make a solid quick repair and continue the expedition.

The Kelly Kettle is an aluminum dry fuel fired water boiler that is light and compact. The large unit holds 40 ounces of water and will bring it to a boil in 3 to 5 minutes or less.

DINK'S TIPS: To get a fast hot fire in the Kelly Kettle use your Water Strider raft foot pump to pump air through the air vent at the bottom of the fire box. Just put the hose adapter by the hole (not to close though cause you don't want to melt the adapter). Hold it in place with a rock and gently pump air through the air hole and presto; you will have a roaring hot fire and boiling water very fast. This is a great method on rainy days or with poor, wet fuel that won't easily burn. - Dave

When you boil water in your Kelly Kettle you refill it with the water stored in your Water Bucket. When you have finished your meal refill the Kelly Kettle from the bucket. When the water boils again you can clean up your cups and cutlery, pour the remaining hot water into the Water Bucket and have plenty of warm water to wash up for the night before hitting your sleeping bag.

PURE WATER PUMP – ADVANCED FILTER
The Advanced filter is for extreme conditions found either in the out-doors such as stagnant water, or emergency conditions. It performs in the same manner as the Standard filter and contains Iodinated Resin (EPA Reg. # 71426) and other proprietary media, which further enhances the removal, reduction or elimination of pollutants and contaminants found in questionable water supplies.
In addition, we have available an accessory called the "disinfector" which, together with Redi-Clor chlorine purification tablets (EPA Reg. # 35917), provides additional protection against contaminants. Filter Capacity
All Seychelle filters deliver up to 100 gallons of great-tasting, fresh water before they need to be changed. The time to change any filter is when the water flow becomes greatly diminished, and it is difficult to squeeze it through the filter bottle. The filters can only be used with fresh water - not salt.
Maintenance Seychelle filters have an indefinite shelf life. For prolonged storage, follow these simple steps:
Flush a chlorinated solution (1/2 tsp. Per gallon of water) through the system.
Allow the bottle and filter assembly to dry overnight on a paper towel.
Store for any length of time.

DINK'S TIPS: I frequently eat Mountain House meals on my Water Strider raft river float trips. With the insulated cup system I just place a freeze dried meal in the large 34 ounce cup, add boiling water from the Kelly Kettle, stir and snap the lid on. In about 30 minutes I stir again and have a wonderful hot meal. Eat well and have fun! - Dave
