This is a
two day school that includes 3 1/2 hours in a class
room (Ennis, Montana RV Village) that covers how to
select and properly use equipment plus basic lake
entomology. It will also cover the proper use of
kickboats, float tubes, motors and line stripping
techniques, playing and landing fish without harming
them. On the second day we will fish on a 100 acre
private lake near Ennis, Montana. I have spent 48
summers in Montana lakes and have been teaching fly
casting for over 40 years. I have been a fly
designer for Umpqua feather Merchants since 1982 and
my flies can be found in Orvis, Cabela's, LL Bean
and many other catalogs.
First day
8:30 -12:00
Choosing
rods, reels, lines, leaders, fly selection, and
knots. How to identify what the trout are feeding
on and match it. Line control and playing fish
properly to the net.
Kickboats,
float tubes, pontoon boats, fins and motors
(both gas and electric).
12:00
break for lunch
1:30 -4:00
Fly
casting lesson, covering grip, back cast, forward
cast, roll cast, line presentation, plus both single
and double haul.
Second day
7:30 - 4:00
Fishing on
a 100 acre private lake that holds rainbow trout
from 1/12 - 6 pounds. This will cover choosing the
right floating or sinking lines, fly selection,
knots, and several techniques on how to retrieve,
strike and play a fish.
Cost for
both days is $250.00 per person limited to 4 persons
on the lake. Classroom and casting lesson only is
$100.00 limited to 8 persons. Day on the lake only
$175.00. Kickboats, life jackets, rods, reels and
lines are available for a $50.00 rental fee.
Deposit of $125.00 is required to hold your spot.
