This totally
amazing piece of camp kitchen gear will boil
water in 3 to 5 minutes using small, dry wood
chips, twigs or even dry grass and pine cones to
make a quick, hot fire that boils water
fast. Dave says "The Kelly Kettle has
been around for about 100 years and is used a
lot in New Zealand where I first saw it. Our
guides used it every day to make hot tea for us
on the river. This is my 32nd year using my
Kelly Kettle and I wouldn't go anywhere without
it."
The Kelly Kettle is a dry fuel fired water
boiler that is light and compact. The Kelly
Kettle is available in three sizes. The large
Aluminum unit holds 54 fl ounces of water and
will bring it to a boil in 3 to 5 minutes or
less.
Dave says "I recommend the large unit for every
camping situation except for solo backpackers..
The large unit will boil enough water to make
coffee or soup for 4 to 6 people, depending on
how big your mugs or bowls are."
Add our
Pot-Support & Cook set to cook small amounts of
food (Noodles, Rice, Oatmeal, Re-hydrated food,

Kelly Kettle Technical Details
It's too simple! Boils water fast.
Dave's
Kelly Kettle will boil water in 3 to 5
minutes depending on the fuel you use. The
Kelly Kettle is a double-walled aluminum
chimney with the water contained in the
chimney wall. Once the Kelly Kettle is
filled with water, start a small fire in the
base, set the Kelly Kettle on the base and
drop additional fuel (twigs, leaves, grass,
paper, bark, etc.) down the chimney. The
large internal surface area of the chimney
heats the water very quickly. To pour your
hot water, lift it by the handle and tilt it
using the cork chain.
How to
operate the Kelly Kettle
1. Remove the cork plug and fill up the
jacket with water through the hole on the
top side.
2. Fill base with combustible material, such
as twigs, sticks, paper or other handy fuel.
3. Light fire through the hole in the side
of the base and face the hold into wind for
extra draft if needed. 4. Insert
additional fuel through the chimney on top.
5. Use handle and chain for pouring.
Be Safe: After use, pour any left over
water over the hot ashes to insure that your
fire is fully extinguished. Do not set
the base on a combustible surface.
WARNING:
NEVER BOIL WATER IN THE KELLY KETTLE WITH
THE CORK PLUG IN PLACE.
Note: The Kelly
Kettle is not designed to be a water
carrier.
Note: When using
your Kelly Kettle for the first time, boil
some water, and then throw the water away.
This helps remove any sealant that may be
left in the water jacket. If your
Kelly Kettle has not been used in some time,
this is also good way to clean and sanitize
it.
