DINK'S TIPS: I use the LVM Hi-Speed Pump with a 12 volt Gel Cell battery which I keep in a plastic carrying case. I carry the battery, pump and case in my car trunk so it is handy to use. The Gel Cell battery will pump up about 20 of my Water Strider Rafts on a single charge. If you clip an LVM Pump directly to a car battery do not use the pump with the car motor running as it produces excessive voltage. When you're inflating or deflating your raft and you hear the pitch of the pump motor change it is then time to stop pumping. You will have to top off the raft with a foot pump to make it hard enough to float efficiently. The LVM Pump is the fastest inflating, lightest weight portable electric air pump available.

DINK'S TIPS: I like to carry an extra 12 volt battery in a plastic carrying case so I can carry the battery and the Bravo 12 volt air pump out along the rafts so I can easily pump them up to capacity while getting my fishing tackle ready to go. I use a gel-cell 12 volt battery for this job. Mine is a Power Sonic model PS-12330 U1 12 volt 33 amp battery made by Power Sonic Corp. The battery will pump up at least 12 Water Striders before it needs recharging. I use an Battery Tender Junior 12 volt 0.75 amp battery charger that is light and does a good job charging the Power Sonic. If you decide to set yourself up this way I recommend getting a battery case that has a lid and carrying strap. I also use the Gel Cell battery to power my electric trolling motor. The Gel Cell is completely sealed so the battery can tip over and roll around and not make a mess. The Gel Cell Battery is also about half the weight of a regular battery. You can find this battery in a place that services electric golf carts and wheel chairs. Having this setup makes it really nice for everyone who's floating with you. Have fun! - Dave

TIP: Always give about 3-5 short strokes in the valve to blow off any
excess water before inflating.

DINK'S TIPS: I often use my Bravo 1 Air Pump as a bellows to pump air through the fire box air vent at the bottom of my Kelly Kettle. This trick gets a roaring hot fire going in a hurry. Just put the hose adapter near the hole (not to close though cause you don't want to melt the adapter). Hold it in place with a rock and gently pump air through the air hole and presto - you will have boiling water very fast. This is a great method on rainy days or with wet fuel that won't easily burn.
